Kedar Tal Trek
Kedar Tal trek is one of Uttarakhand’s most dramatic
high-altitude lake treks, known for its sheer alpine terrain and towering
Thalay Sagar peak rising straight from the water’s edge. It is a challenging trek, but rewarding. The trek is known for its steep ascents,
rocky terrain and unpredictable weather, requiring high altitude fitness and
prior high altitude trekking experience. It is part of the Gangotri National Park
region. The trail can be complicated, and some sections are prone to
landslides. It is extremely raw, rugged
and less crowded and offers world-class views for photographers and adventure
trekkers. The place has a holy significance as it is believed that Kedar Ganga
is Lord Shiva’s contribution to the Bhagirathi. The lake water is crystal clear
and turquoise, reflecting sharp black peaks. It offers close-up views of the
Thalay Sagar, Manda, Bhagirathi and other peaks. This trek requires good
fitness and is not recommended for first-time trekkers.
