Kauri Pass Trek
This
well-known high-altitude mountain pass is a popular trekking spot in the
Garhwal region of the Uttarakhand Himalayas. You will witness majestic views of
peaks such as Nanda Devi. Kamet, Dronagiri and Chaukhamba.
At an altitude of 12,516Ft (3815m)
The trek usually takes six days to complete
and is a great choice for beginners who want to try trekking for the first
time. Along the way, you’ll cross diverse terrain, walk through dense forests
of oak, rhododendron and deodar, and explore alpine meadows called Bugyals,
such as Gorson Bugyal and Khullara.
The Trek starts
from Dhak Village which is 12 km above Joshimoth and located in Garjwal region
of Uttrakhand (India) .
To reach Dhak
Village ,one need to travel from Rishikesh/Haridwar to Joshimoth which is
approx 12 km by road and from there 1 hr drive to Dhak Village .
The
best time for this trek is typically pre-monsoon (May-June) or post-monsoon
(September-November), or winter (Dec-Feb) for snow.
